Aptamil liquid formula products availability

Last updated: June 16th 2021

We are currently experiencing low availability on our liquid formula products.

We fully appreciate that the low availability of these products is unsettling and frustrating for parents and we are very sorry for this.

We are working hard to get products back onto shelves as soon as possible.  We are sending out supplies of most Aptamil liquid products and availability is improving, although it may vary by store, format, and region of the country.

The low availability was caused by an issue with an ingredient used to prevent foaming during the production of these products.  As a result, these formulas did not consistently meet our standards, so we stopped sending out them while we investigated and resolved the issue.  Production has re-started at our factory and we are sending out supplies to retailers.

Parents can continue to safely use our products currently available in stores or that they have already purchased.

In the meantime, while we work to get products back onto shelves, we want to do everything we can to support you. Our ranges of powder formula have good availability and we will continue to provide regular up-dates on this situation on this dedicated page. For further information or support, please contact our careline using the details below.

What products are affected?

  • Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk liquids
  • Aptamil 2 Follow on Milk liquids
  • Aptamil Profutura 1 First Infant Milk liquids
  • Aptamil Profutura 2 Follow on Milk liquids

Where can I find your liquid milks?

The current availability of our liquid milks is low and can vary by store and location.

You could try calling ahead to see if your store has stock available, or try visiting different stores, including local pharmacies and independent stores which are often less heavily used.

At present, we only sell our powder formulas directly on our website shop.

What alternative products could I use?

Our powder milk products can be substituted for your usual liquid milk.  Please see the list below to help you easily see which powder product can be used instead of your usual liquid milk.  We have good availability of our powder milks in all major retailers or you can purchase products directly from our website shop.

All infant formula powder milks are nutritionally complete and suitable as a sole source of nutrition from birth and as part of a varied weaning diet from 6 months to 1 year and it’s perfectly fine to move from one format to another.

We’ve provided a detailed step-by-step guide to mixing powder milks here. We recommend reading this even if you are familiar with or have used powder milks before and always follow the on-pack instructions.

If you’re concerned about changing your little one’s milk, we recommend you speak to a Healthcare professional for advice.

Are your liquid formulas still safe to consume?

Yes, you can continue to use products that you have already purchased.

How long is this shortage expected to last?

We are working hard to get products back onto shelves as soon as possible.  We are sending out supplies of most Aptamil liquid products and availability is improving, although it may vary by store, format, and region of the country.

How do I transition to powdered milks from liquid milks?

It is completely safe for you to change your little one’s milk to powder immediately.

However, every baby is different and some babies may experience settling issues when changing milks due to the slightly different taste texture and minor differences in composition. This is normal and any symptoms should be minimal and temporary.

If possible, to minimise any settling issues, parents might prefer to do a gradual transition over a few days, to allow your little one time to adjust.  It may be a good idea to introduce the new feed when your little one is not too tired or irritable, but it is worth exploring to see what works for you.

If you have any concerns about your baby please discuss this with your healthcare professional.  For information on using our products, please contact our careline using the details below.

If I contact Aptamil Careline directly, can they send me some stock?

Here in the UK, we comply with strict Regulations and we are not allowed to send out formula products to parents for free. We also cannot take payments via our Careline, so if you need to order any products please do so on our website.
