Profile
Dr Sarah Jarvis is a qualified GP, and an active medical writer and broadcaster – with a lifelong interest in women’s health.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Jarvis has been appearing regularly on BBC 1’s The One Show, Channel 5 news, ITN Lunchtime News and LBC, offering expert advice about all aspects of the pandemic. She’s also the resident medical expert on ITV’s Coronavirus: Q&A, and Jeremy Vine’s shows on BBC Radio 2 and Channel 5.
Education and career
After training in medicine at Cambridge and Oxford, Dr Sarah Jarvis became a registered GP.
She is Diplomate of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Dr Jarvis was appointed an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list in December 2017 for services to general practice and public understanding of health.
Other work
Her books include A Younger Woman’s Diagnose-it-yourself Guide, Women’s Health for Life and Pregnancy for Dummies, as well as Children’s Health for Dummies.
She founded the Women’s Taskforce at the RCGP and was the RCGP Women’s Health spokesperson for over 15 years.
In 2017 she became clinical director of the Patient Platform Limited. This includes the website Patient.info, which provides patient health education to over 100 million people a year worldwide.
