How to prepare Aptamil First Infant Milk
Please follow these instructions carefully. Failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill.
Step 1
Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions.
Step 2
Shake bottle well. Pour the required amount of milk into a sterilised feeding bottle.
Step 3
Serve at room temperature, or warmed if desired. If warmed, check temperature of feed.
Step 4
For hygiene reasons, discard unfinished milk in the feeding bottle as soon as possible, and always within 2 hours.

Once opened, unused First Infant Milk still in the bottle must be refrigerated immediately and used within 24 hours.

Our preparation instructions follow Department of Health and NHS guidelines. Boiling 1 litre of fresh tap water and allowing it to cool for no more than 30 minutes ensures it reaches the ideal temperature of at least 70°C — enough to kill bacteria while still mixing the powder effectively.

Follow-on milk is only for babies over 6 months, as part of a mixed diet and should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months. We advise that all formula milks including the decision to start weaning should be made on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist or other professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on baby’s individual needs.
