How do I prepare and store Aptamil SENSAVIA?

When making up a feed, it is important to follow the on-pack instructions closely. For a step by step video guide, please visit our website.

  1. Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturer's instructions. Boil 1 litre of freshly run water. Leave kettle to cool for 30 minutes and no longer. Measure the required amount of water (refer to feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
  2. Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built-in leveller. Do not press/heap the powder.
  3. Add the correct measure of powder to the water. Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake immediately, vertically and vigorously (for 10 seconds) until the powder is dissolved.
  4. Cool under running tap. Check temperature of feed. Feed immediately.

Whilst the Department of Health guidance is to wait for no more than 30 minutes, it is recommended that you leave the water to cool for at least 15 minutes. Depending on your kettle, this should allow the water to reach the temperature of 80 degrees.  We cannot guarantee the product ingredients and minerals will withstand a temperature of above 80 degrees (this may result in mineral loss) and the mixing properties can also be affected at this heat, such as how the powder dissolves in the water.

Due to the characteristics of some of the ingredients in Aptamil SENSAVIA, the milk can separate once prepared. This is completely fine. If this occurs, shake the bottle vigorously to mix and use as usual.

If you are using the infant milk starter pack liquids, please ensure you shake the bottles vigorously as the formula can separate due to the characteristics of the ingredients. This is normal and completely safe.

Starter pack 70ml: Bottles should remain in the box or in a dark place to protect the contents from light.  Once opened discard any unused feed within 1 hour. Bottles and teats are for single use only.

Powders: The powder should be stored in a cool, dry place but not refrigerated.  Use the powder within 4 weeks of opening the pack.

For hygiene reasons, we recommend that feeds are made up when required and not made up in advance and stored.  Unfinished feeds in the beaker should be discarded as soon as possible and always within 2 hours if your little cannot finish the feed.
